PARKRIDGE PARTNERS WITH LOCAL BUSINESS FOR WOMEN’S HEALTH INITIATIVE

May 26, 2010 - Parkridge Health System today announced an exclusive partnership with local Chattanooga business, The Hot Chocolatier.  This unique partnership is designed to encourage women to be proactive about their health and reward them for getting yearly screening mammograms.

Women who come to Parkridge or Parkridge East to have their mammogram done will be rewarded with a certificate for an exclusive free piece of chocolate designed and prepared by Wendy Buckner, owner of The Hot Chocolatier. “I am so excited to partner with Parkridge on this initiative,” said Buckner. “It is important for women to take care of themselves and I am happy to do anything I can to reward them for doing so.”

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women, with one in eight women developing breast cancer in her lifetime. Mammograms play a vital role in the early detection of breast cancer and if detected early, the five-year survival rate is 97 percent. With mammography available on both the Parkridge Medical Center and Parkridge East campuses, Parkridge Health System supports the American Cancer Society’s guidelines that women get yearly regular screening mammograms starting at age 40. Digital mammography is available at Parkridge East and provides patients with enhanced image quality and shorter exam times.
